ECET2 stands for Elevating and Celebrating Effective Teaching and Teachers. It was born out of a desire to provide a forum for exceptional teachers to learn from one another and to celebrate the teaching profession. The convening experience is designed to inform and inspire colleagues, develop attendees’ leadership potential, and hone their craft.
Our convenings, modeled after the national ECET2, is committed to growing, nurturing, and leveraging the abilities of each individual educator in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Fall Convening: September 30, October 1, 2017
Spring Convening: March 3-4, 2018
The ECET2NJPA 2017-18 theme is: The Power of Connection.
Our focus is on providing meaningful opportunities for each attendee to form connections to other attendees, high-quality professional development and professional development providers, and his/her own reason why they’re educators.
We do this through multiple models. Our World Cafe and Pro-Action Cafe models provide opportunities for attendees to discuss personally pertinent educational issues through questioning and discussing problems of practice. Our unconference model empowers attendees to share pedagogical and instructional strengths in short, hard-hitting sessions. Lastly, our 50-90 minute professional development session course offerings are scrutinized and vetted to provide attendees with an optimal learning experience.
The ECET2NJPA organizing team understands the importance of creating an environment for powerful connections to form. As such, all food and lodging are paid for through grants and outside sponsorship. Attendees can expect three meals, two snacks, and beverages on Saturday, and two meals, two snacks, and beverages on Sunday. A hotel room is provided on Saturday night close to the convening site.
Built into the schedule is White Space time. White Space time is an opportunity for attendees to reflect on their convening experience during the convening. Stations are set up for attendees to video log, blog, or take photos to document their time. Sponsors will be on hand to discuss their products, and their potential benefits to all attendees.
We look forward to providing opportunities for you to connect with your peers (and us!) at our two convening dates this 2017-2018 school year!
